Li Hezhang, rector of SMBU, delivered a speech at the ceremony in which he urged students to combine their personal dreams with the country's development, read books, raise questions, practice and build a strong mind.

Sergey Shakhray, first vice rector of SMBU, observed in his speech at the ceremony that Shenzhen is not only a contributor to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area but also a leader in technological innovation and environmental protection as well as a model for the country and even other cities around the globe.

Li, Shakhray, Party chief and vice rector of SMBU Zhu Dijian, and deans of each department issued student cards to each new student at the ceremony and rewarded senior student assistants for helping new students over the past month.
